About

Planet Patrons is a dynamic force in environmental conservation, aligned with the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). We empower children, youth, and women through initiatives like our Birthday Forests program, engaging students in tree planting. Our approach spans afforestation, environmental education, sustainable agriculture and food security, women and youth empowerment and WASH programs. Guided by passion, collaboration, and sustainability, we address multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals. Planet Patrons envisions a world where every child grows up appreciating and protecting nature. By fostering environmental stewardship, we’re cultivating a sustainable future for generations to come.

Our History

Planet Patrons, established in 2022 and officially registered in 2023, is a dynamic environmental non-governmental organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. Our mission is to empower children and young adults to protect and preserve the environment, creating a sustainable planet for generations to come. We focus on promoting tree planting as a lifestyle through eco-friendly practices for sustainable development.

The seeds of Planet Patrons were sown in late 2021 when our founder, driven by a deep concern for the environment and a vision of youth-led conservation, conceptualized an organization that would unite and empower young people in environmental stewardship. On April 22, 2022, coinciding with Earth Day, Planet Patrons was officially established, marking the beginning of our journey to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices.

Our flagship initiative, “Birthday Forests,” was born in July 2022 during a birthday celebration for a member’s child. This event, attended by 33 children, 12 youths, and 9 adults, sparked the innovative idea of combining birthday celebrations with tree planting activities, creating a lasting environmental impact and a personal connection to nature for young people.
In August 2022, we held our first major event in Nakuru, which attracted over 200 participants from schools, youth groups, and environmentalists across Nairobi and Nakuru. This event served as a platform to introduce the concept of Birthday Forests and gather input from young people on their environmental concerns and aspirations.

Recognizing the need for legal recognition to expand our operations and impact, Planet Patrons officially registered as a non-governmental organization in Kenya on March 15, 2023. This milestone enabled us to broaden our scope and seek formal partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, and other NGOs.
